Daniel Schiels

Daniel Schiels - Education Leader and Curriculum Development

A resident of Easton, Connecticut, Daniel Schiels is an accomplished educator and curriculum specialist with over fifteen years of experience advancing inclusive education across public and private institutions. Daniel K. Schiels began his career in 2008 as an arts enrichment director at Learning Spring School, a K–8 institution serving students with autism spectrum disorder, where he designed differentiated arts programs and coordinated school-wide cultural events.

From 2015 to 2018, Daniel Schiels served as a special education department liaison for the New York City Department of Education, leading professional development workshops, mentoring educators, and managing individualized education programs (IEPs) for high school students. In 2018, he joined the Southern Westchester Board of Cooperative Educational Services as a special education teacher, where he implemented vocational and adaptive curricula and fostered community partnerships for student engagement. He most recently served Stamford Public Schools as a teacher. He also assisted in curriculum development, created cross-school data initiatives, piloted innovative instructional programs, and trained staff in literacy and communication systems.

Daniel K. Schiels is a 2024 Funds for Teachers Fellowship Award recipient and has been recognized with multiple awards for excellence in education as well as poetry. His written works have been published in the International Library of Poetry and regional publications.
